yellow light mean,s caution.........slow down....get ready to stop...if possible........if the speed limit is fairly high & you are too close to stop safely....proceed with caution.....if the light turn,s red before you enter the intersection..& you can,t stop in time....then your driving too fast & not in full control of your vehicle.........try explaining that to a police officer!

If it's possible to stop, you stop. If you're too close, you go through.

Unfortunately some lights are set so that there is a space where, if you are going the speed limit, it is impossible to either stop or make it through the light between it turns red. In that situation, you just floor it and get through as quick as possible, you're damned if you do damned if you don't.

If I ever get in an accident because one of those lights, I will be suing the city that maintains it. It isn't that hard to figure out how long a yellow should be. Take the stopping distance of something with slow response, a panel truck for example, on wet roads, or if appropriate for the area, ice, figure out how long it takes to go to that distance at the speed limit. There's your time. Then no one has an excuse.

It means you have to slow down before a red light, but if you are near it just go though it.

If you are so close that the only way you can stop for it is to slam on the brakes you'll probably make it before it turns red. Flooring it is what idiots who can't drive do. The lights usually red when they do it causing a accident.

You're supposed to slow down, unless you're right under it, in which case, it would be stupid to stop.

If you hesitate then that's when you get into the accident! It all depends on how close to the intersection you are at the time.
