Is it arrogant to try to get in on conversations with people, you know just small talk? I want to make more acquaintances and bascially be cool with everybody but I always worry about coming off as arrogant or wierd because Im known as really quiet and shy.

Nope arrogance is NOT a way to win friends or influence enemies. Arrogance is someone who thinks that only they know everything and are right about everything and everyone else is wrong and stupid.

Ignorance usually goes along with arrogance.

Just be yourself, speak to people, smile , talk about things in the news or that are au current around your school. Be authentic and kind .

If you are a quiet person then you should generate some good qualities. By all means do not be arrogant while conversating with others as it will prevent you from having conversation with others.

Arrogance is false pride, interupting is just plain rude, wait for a lull in the conversation.

I do that ALL the time, sometimes not even on purpose. it's fun!

I really don't mind if the people think I'm arrogant or weird, if I have something to input, I input.
