Because republicans tend to concrete on the real issues and not petty, childlike name calling. Who cares about her plane, there is a war going on that needs more attention.

What this article didn't include is that the cost of Hastert's plane that he used while serving as speaker would cost the gov't. appx. $5,000 to cross the country. The cost of Pelosi's request? $300,000.00 ONE WAY! The reason? She's requesting the military equivalent of a boeing 757. She demanded 54 business class seats, an entertainment lounge, a business lounge, a bedroom, and a crew of 16 servants!!!!!!!!!! And today, this outrageous demand actually went to the level of extortion of the US taxpayers. A member of Congress actually made the claim today that if the Pentagon didn't give her the plane she wanted, then their Department of Defense budgets would not be approved. Can you imagine waht would have happened if Newt Gingrich or Trent Lott would have made these demands? Why is the mainstream media not outraged over this? Why is Tony Snow pandering to Pelosi on this matter? As for Pelosi, she makes no sense. She claims that she wants to take on outrageous abuses of those in elected office, and yet this is her fight? And when she encountered resistance from the Pentagon on this matter, her first reaction was to claim sexism... that they wouldn't give her what she wanted because she's a woman. No Speaker has EVER received such excess! It's not a breach of security to land for refueling on US soil. She could travel faster and more efficiently by taking Hastert's plane that was offered her than my stomping her foot like a child and saying, "Fine then! I'll just fly commercial!" It's like a 6 year old who wants to eat pizza instead of steak and whines, "Fine then! I just won't eat!"

Followup: That's not what she said yesterday for sure. Yesterday she claimed it was sexism.

It's another one of those stupid non issues that neocons use to divert people from the increasing deaths in Iraq. You should be worried about helicopters being shot down, not a plane for Pelosi -- which even Tony Snow, the White House Press Sec. says she's entitled to.

there was a question about this earlier, but I didn't bother to answer it. Yeah she sure doesn't want to stop over in"fly over country" to refuel those are mostly red states eww. I think I read somewhere else that there is another plane that would make the trip non stop but only holds 8 to 10 people. Heck give her the big one that holds 300. I don't care.

Yes, it really was a fabricated furor. I wish Democrats like Pelosi would address these fake attacks sooner and shut the Repubics down faster and make them look like the fools they are rather than let it drag on for a week.
It get the brainwashed sheeple all agitated about something that is a lie.

Anything the replublicans get means the democrats get it too, including the patriot act if Hillary is the next president. And she'll use it, too. Not for terrorisim, mind you, but for investigating her political enemies, just like she used the IRS for just that during her term in the white house 6 years ago (I emphasize "her", and not "his")..

TONY SNOW SAID IT WAS SILLY... That's like Richard Simmons telling someone to tone down on the "gay"...

when tony snow backs Pelosi... you know Republicans don't have a leg to stand on...

Evidently she will only get as good as what Hastert got. I think that is fair.
