why would I have a problem with that. It's a choice both parties made on their own.

Canadian culture is different from what I see in the US. If Canadians think that deserters deserve protection from the laws that govern them, then so be it. Most of the deserters I've know are not the type of people I particularly want to be here. Let them (the Canadians) deal with that lot.

Yes, I have a problem with that, the coward deserterds need to be put on front line and made see what a real American is all about. There are a lot of different ways that people are considered to be traitors to their own country, this is just one way.

Canada has a Conservative Government that's less than friendly to deserters from the U.S. military. They have to respect an established process in dealing with them, but the outcome would not generally be good for deserters wanting to stay in Canada.

That may change with the next Federal election in Canada though.

It's OK with me as long as they stay in Canada. There should be somewhere to go, but then it should mean they renounce their citizenship. And if they want to come back, let them file for citizenship like everyone else has to (or should have to).
