This is so funny, My last period was on Dec. 23rd! I got 4 negatives before I got my possitive! 9 days late. I got my possitive the same date 2 years later than I found out about my son. Hope you get your answer soon if not already :)

A woman's cycle can be affected by many things...illness, stress, exercise, and even some psychological things. For example, I have heard of a woman that wanted to be pregnant so badly that she didn't have a period for months and even started experiencing symptoms (morning sickness for example)...and she wasn't pregnant! Female athletes sometimes lose their period for short or even long periods of time as during heavy training.

Are you normally highly regular or have you had irregular periods in the past? Have you been worrying that you might be pregnant for a few weeks (or since dec. 22)? ...any other stress or changes in your normal routine?

A false negative isn't very likely...but the test you bought should provide this information for that specific type of test (look in the detailed instructions not the back of the box!). ...and if I remember correctly, some tests require you to test in the morning for maximum accuracy...if you had one of those tests, then a false positive from doing the test at night is possible (maximum dilution of urine contents at the end of the day v. first thing in the morning!).

If It were me (and if I was normally extremely regular and hadn't been experiencing anything out of the ordinary), I'd run to the store and grab another test...preferably a different brand with a different method of use (pee in cup v. pee on stick for example) and take the test again tomorrow morning.

If the second test was negative, I'd wait for a month or so before going to the doctor...but you're probably start before that because the chances of two false negatives is so close to zero as makes no difference!

If the second test is positive, you can either wait a week and test one more time OR just go to a doctor or family clinic (or even an adoption agency) for a physical exam and a blood test to confirm! If the doctor or nurse tells you that you're pregnant, then you're pregnant...until then, there is always a chance, albeit a small one, that a positive OR a negative test is wrong!

My last period was December 22 also and I will be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I dont know how long your cycles are but mine are 30 days and I have known since January 21st. Up until I was a week late Clearblue Easy Digital was the only test that was positive. Its really a 50/50 chance I would see the Dr though because there are such things as false negatives I had 4.
