You have no reason to be scared. This operation is very routine and safe. Metal plates in joints due to breaks and shattered bones is an operation performed by surgeons quite frequently.

You'll be in very capable hands that do this day in, day out. The nurses will also keep a close eye on you and the inscision so the risk of infection will be low. Follow all instructions on discharge and you'll be fine.

You may even find your wrist will be more stable than before the operation. Good luck! Keep calm!

Don't worry too much. I had carpul tunnel surgery and it wasn't anything big. I got worked up over pretty much nothing. I mean it was annoying to not be able to use my hand and it was my major hand, but for the most part it's no biggie. If it's the hand that you use all the time I suggest you teach yourself real quick how to do things with the other hand. It took me a month of heavy training to teach my other hand how to do things. The bathroom is the worst. Good luck and I hope it feels better in no time.

absolutely normal to be scared, but you really shouldn't have anything to worry about. I know someone who had a similar surgery about 2 years ago, and he did just fine.

ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO GO THRU A METAL DETECTOR.........NO....I'M KIDDING......A FAMOUS PERSON ONCE SAID," THE ONLY MINOR SURGERY IS SURGERY ON SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF". YOU WILL BE FINE.........i HAD WRIST SURGERY LAST YEAR. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE FOLLOWED ALL OF YOUR PRE-OP DIRECTIONS AND ANSWERED ALL THE DOCTOR'S QUESTIONS ACCURATELY YOU WILL BE FINE.
