My son is going to turn 5 on the 22nd of this month. And I'm lost at what to get him.. he has just about anything a 5 yr old could want. He's got a go-cart, a mini croch rocket, a min. horse, 2 dogs, a 4 wheeler, tons of playstation games, a ps3, 2 bicycles, a trampoline, a life size playhouse with an upstairs w/ hardwood floor and carpet, and tons more to name. my husband got him a lil 50cc dirt bike, but i don't think he really needs it. what is something to get him? if this matters.... we live in the country (in alabama), up on the mountain, my son talks about redneck as it comes, he's basically barefoot, with a pair of shorts on in the summer time playing in the sandbox, saying "mama, don't cha know I could use a lil help here, ya reckon!!"

I would buy him a workbench and a tool set, if he doesn't already have one. They have a few really cool ones at Toys R Us that are Home Depot branded. He could build things for his playhouse, or just have fun learning to build things for himself.

Another idea may be a remote controlled vehicle, like a car or an airplane. If you live in an open area, he would love to run it around, and you could make jumps or tracks for him. It sounds like you don't really spare expense for him, so I would recommend getting him a gas or electric rc car or truck you can get at hobby stores. They have monster trucks that go 30 mph! They last a lot longer that the ones you buy at regular stores, and they go so much faster! Plus, a lot of the rc cars you buy at hobby shops can be modified and he'll have fun building on to it.

One tip, though, if you do go the rc truck route, make sure you either get a rtr (ready to run) or have someone get it ready for him before his birthday. Some gas powered trucks have to be primed, running through a few tanks of gas before they can be played with.

I hope this helps, good luck with the gift!

Lol wow well your child is very lucky to have so many great toys and a mother that cares about his entertainment. =) However, maybe you could get him something that works his mind, simple, and fun at the same time. Something like MoonSand would be really good, it's not that expensive, very fun, not messy, it never dries out and doesn't absorb water. He can make whatever he wants with it. TV related websites sell it at around 30 dollars each package, places like Walmart sell it at around 20 dollars. You could check E-bay too.
Legos would be good too, dress up clothes, PlayFoam, or Illumabot. Illumabot has many detachable pieces, lights, and can be moved with a motor and control. Hopefully I helped, and whatever you get him I'm sure he will like, 5 year olds are very open-minded.

I would rethink about how you are showing your love to your son. When a child, especially as young as 5, is showered with many gifts he will consistently be expecting them from every facet of his life. Sooner or later there will come a time when something he wants will not be handed to him and he will have a hard time understanding the whole situation. I suggest getting yourself information on how you can show love to your son without risking the chances of spoiling him. I know the feeling of wanting to give to your child, but giving material items like this might do much more harm then good. Good luck and Happy B day to your son!

i totally and completely agree with amy c. he will come to expect that he will get whatever he wants on holidays, and then he could become greedy. I suggest taking him somewhere with a playmate maybe. try a science museum, and get him lunch and a small gift at the giftstore! hope i helped! and happy birthday little guy!

My mom gave me a Nintendo Wii and me and my 6 year old brother love it! It is something the whole family will enjoy. It's a little expensive but its worth your money, trust me.
