I think it's mostly because that people don't think these ponds are populated with anything worth catching. Definitely a big advantage for you as you now know different. Most people will target the major lakes in the area for their fishing because their just not aware of all the great ponds that are around, and therefore most of these ponds end up under fished and as a result, can also end up holding some HUGE fish. There's a bunch of them around where I live and I regularly catch five to eight pound bass in these ponds and have yet to see anybody fishing at these spots except for a few guys I grew up with that know about them, and we all release our catches each time so as to ensure monsters in the future. Do yourself a favor and keep it a secret.

I don't think its possible but try to stay over by the log and cast in it's direction. and be patient and use all the normal fishing rules. Hope I helped
