my sister is 34 and she STILL THUMB SUCKING

Thumb sucking is a habit that, typically, starts during infancy when it is more a reflex than a habit. If there's no pressure to stop it may continue into adulthood, as evidenced by the website www.thumbsuckingadults.com . By that age, though, it is a habit, similar to a comfortable posture one is used to, like folding one's legs when sitting, etc.
Some teens, though, suck their thumb because it has become some sort of fad probably having some shock value. Like many fads, it has the characteristics of the clique, that is, belonging to a group while "thumbing" one's nose at those that are on the outside.
Thumb sucking also has some inherent pleasures associated with it for those that are orally inclined.

We all have ways of dealing with stress and nervous moments.Some suck thumbs some bite nails and some even bite fingers.They are also ways of dealing with boredome.Dont get me wrong though,they are still bad habits but are not to serious.Just try to stop yourself (if your talking about yourself) or find a different way of dealing with these habits.

put some hot sauce on the kids thumbs that will get them to quit or help them like hot sauce
