For example: If Miguel Tejada and the Orioles have played in 100 games, and then he is traded to the Blue Jays who have played 97 games. Once he plays for the Blue Jays will he be forced to sit out three of the teams games as to not go over 162 games in a season? Will this count as ending a streak of consecutive games played? HELP!

Maury Wills played in the most games in a year with 165 which is just interesting even though it was all with the Dodgers, also the game between the Brewers and White Sox that went 25 innings in the 80's since it was suspended and finished on a different day anybody that was traded to either of them before the make up day could have played in that game still...Many times in history players have been traded midseason and played in 163 games

No, he wouldn't have to sit out any games. That is, unless the his second tea of that season had to pick up a suspended game from earlier in the season. He would not be allowed to play in that one, as he wasn't in the original line-up. Then again, that suspended game is listed as having been played on the original date of the game.

If he were to continue to play every game, he'd end up playing 165 games that season, actually, 166 if the Jays then had to play a playoff game.

In 1986, Tony Fernandex played in 163 games.

Happens quite often in all sports leagues. There's no union rule that forbids a player from playing more than 162 games. All streaks continue and all stats count.

Why the heck would a player be restricted in the number of games he can play? You wasted five points to ask this?

Of course he wouldn't be required to sit.

You Betcha is right except that homerun records die when you change leagues in mid-season.
