Not any significant gains. You will actually lose power if you don't change the jetting in the carburetor and adjust the ignition timing. Even with this, you will only gain a couple of horsepower.

But consider this. The noise WILL piss off the neighbors and local land owners. You may lose permission to ride on or through any private property and ruin it for others.

If looking for more power, change piston, cams and carb, but leave the exhaust pipe alone.

I would not remove them. If you want to make it louder and have a little more low end power without having to rejet your carb then just do this. Start the atv. Take a long metal drill bit, use a strong drill of course, and just go straight through the exhaust where it exits. right into the tail pipe. drill through the middle of as many baffles as you can until your drill bit won't go any further in. Instantly louder with a little more low end torque.

You will probably need to make your fuel richer because of the increased air flow to prevent it from running too lean... Also if you plan to use it anywhere in a state or national forest you will not meet the legal spark arrester requirements in places where there are such laws.. (I.E. California here).

If you don't have fuel injection, you can burn a piston just like a motorcycle. The carb will need to be rejetted.

It will be slightly louder, and should improve your bottom end by freeing up some flow.
