like with any lizard or monitor. you need to handle them at a young age. so they get use to you. and never stop doing this or they will get use to being left alone. then if you try to get them out there cage. they will think your trying to invade their territory and attack you.

so if they are use to not having human contact then you need to start holding them and might not be a bad idea to get a pair of very heavy gloves. so when they bite you it wont hurt you that much.

owned a savanna monitor and a nile monitor and even when they was about 4 feet long they was just like babies. but liek with any wild animals they will bite from time to time.

The excellent recommendation is to take away the smallest one earlier than the higher one kills it. You can investigate the intercourse of each by means of watching within the hind legs. If you notice little dots going alongside the within of each legs, the iguanas are men they usually have to be separated instantly. Males additionally bob the pinnacle up and down. Even even though the more youthful one is exceptional now, does not imply that it is going to be the equal as an grownup. The temperament of an iguana isn't predictable.

Yep, sorry to say it, but in my experience, your likely never to be able to handle them safely again. To keep an iguana mellow you -HAVE- to handle it -at least- every other day, they don't have very long memories when it comes to being grabbed. If they're still young, you have a chance, but if they're adults, good luck.

How would you feel if you were an iguana and were kept in captivity? I'd try to attack my captor as well! You should not have pets such as these, just because they are sold in stores does not make it okay to own them. You participate in the commodifcation of sentient beings...Give what you are doing some thought.

Handle them several times a day.

pretty much the same as everyone else.you can't expect them to kiss you on the lips unless you SOCALIZE with them.you have to make them feel safe and just like part of the family.they have to learn that you are not a threat.to them your size makes you appear to be a predator.
