The 1968 version was flawless with that gorgeous couple (Hussey and Whiting), the acting, script and spectacular Cinematography, etc. it just can't be beat!
Franco Zephrelli was a genius, one of my favorite films!!

I would have to say the old version. As good as the 1996 version was, the older version stayed more true to the story of Romeo and Juliet. I like Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, but maybe if they had stuck more to the story, it would have been a better movie.

I like the version where both of them don't commit suicide and live happily ever after.
But really, I think it's a tie between the 1968 and 1996 version. Romeos acid trip was pretty....interesting but what is a youth from the 1968 version is beautiful beyond description.

I loved what they did with the 1996 version. That was great cinematic genius, and I love Shakespeare, so I was happy that they kept all of the original dialogue and everything. I though the '96 version was great.

1968...I like leo, but the modern R&J was too weird. I didn't like how the language was the same in a modern world.
