8 glasses of 8 fluid oz. of water every day. Believe it or not, it does help. Also, lay off the soft drinks, chips, chocolate, and all that jazz. Salt bloats you up, so anything that is canned you need to stay away from...eat fresh or frozen vegetables instead of canned foods. Eat lightly and eat no processed foods (yes, that would even mean school lunch food--most of that stuff is processed meats. Eat plenty of salads and fruits as well. Now, I know you said you don't want to take any pills, but Pamprin is totally safe.

Sorry hun...you can't completely stop these feelings. A little advice though to help out...
During the times that you get your period, try not to drink soda and limit your salt intake. These two things can make bloating and cramps worse.
When you get older and are comfortable with pills, I suggest Midol or Pamphrin LOL...Those help a lot =)

The pill can definitely help with certain period symptoms, though I am not sure about bloating. I know it helped me with cramps and pms more than anything. When I was your age my period symptoms were horrible, but my cramps aren't nearly as bad now that I am older. If you can't go on the pill then all I can recommend is midol. My mom would have died if I went on the pill at your age so I just suffered through and boughts lots of midol. Also, avoid soft drinks because it can make pains stronger. Good luck.

It's just part of being a female, however, there are things that can help. Lower sodium (salt) intake, drink more water (remember that sodas have a lot of salt in them), and exercise. Sometimes excessive bloating can be a symptom/sign of other things, so, make sure to ask your mom to make a doctor appt for you, okay?

Ahh- its mostly about diet. track your cycle and one week before cut out all sodium, caffeine, processed sugars and dairy. I know their what we crave but its also what causes the bloat. If you already have the bloat herbal tea can help you relieve some of the pressure. Good luck-- and it does eventually get easier to handle and monitor!

I think that may just be something you'll have to accept as one of the joys of being a girl and one of the reasons men just will never understand women! I find drinking green tea in the morning helps sometimes. Try a red berry flavour one, they're actually quite nice! Sorry, I know, it sucks being a girl, and trust me, you have so much more to come!

You've probably only just started getting your period since you're only 13. That's waht happens in the beginning. It'll go away with time.

13...oh, those were the days.
You're worring about bloating. At 13. Girl, you have NO IDEA what your body is in for later. I don't want to scare you, but Be Afraid. Be VERY afraid.
Be HAPPY that all you have to worry about is a little bloating.

Ask your mom to put you on birth control. It helps me so much. I have been on birth control since I was 11 and it helps, because I would have to go to the hospital for every period. Let your mom know that you dont need it for sex, just strictly for your problems with your period!!!
