The Dodgers. They have a great rotation and the lineup looks good also.

Diamondbacks, they have 4 pitchers who can all pitch 200+ innings which will lessen the load on the soft spot (relievers). There is not a lot of pop but there is a lot of young, eager, players who will grow up together to establish a winning dynasty that will rule the NL West for years.
SF is too old North, SD is too old South...Colorado will have to overcome the problems with their star (Helton) and mend those fences..not easy!!! And LA is loaded but it may be loaded with too many over the hill and ego players that a happy clubhouse may become an issue.
Its a long season and those loose ends translate into losses which will cost some teams!

I think the race is somewhat open between 3 teams...Dodgers Padres and Diamondbacks and here is the rundown...
Diamondbacks rotation
1. Randy Johnson
2. Brandon Webb
3. Livian Hernandez
4. Doug Davis
the 4 of these will make up one of the best rotations in the NL. The infield will consist of Conor Jackson at 1st Orlando Hudson up the middle along with Stephen Drew and Chad Tracy at 3rd...these 4 will for sure by next year be a great hitting infield but Jackson and Tracy they will be just fine this year and in little time last year Drew has shown he's probably ready...they wil be going with 1 proven in the OF and thats Eric Byrnes so they will be spotty out there...
LA Dodgers
1 Derek Lowe
2. Jason Schmidt
3. Brad Penny
after those 3 they will be easy to hit...they have a proven infield with Garciaparra, Jeff Kent , and Furcal with a drop down in production at 3rd...their OF has ex- Diamondback Luis Gonzalez, Juan Pierre, and youngster Andre Ethier...Gonzo will have to really hit to make up 4 the singles hitting Pierre and the inexperienced Ethier...I don't think they will stand up to the D-backs...
Finally...the Padres
1. Jake Peavy
2. Greg Maddux
3. Chris Young
4. David Wells
Peavy should bounce back from a season in which he dealt with injuries and struggled through them, Maddux is good for 15 wins and should get them pitching in San Diego, Young looks like a decent number 3 pitcher for them while it looks like David Wells will get out of his rocker for one more year...they are however backed by Trevor Hoffman in the bullpen who will lock up 40-45 saves for them...
the IF consists of Adrian Gonzalez who is off his 1st full time year and should continue to improve, Marcus Giles at 2nd who is always a steady bat, Khalil Greene who will hit 15 homers but only have a 250 batting avg. and what could end up being time split a couple of ways at 3rd base...the OF consists of Brian Giles and Mike Cameron locking up 2 of the spots with the other OF spot being open to a couple of choices...overall they will not hold up in the standings........
So to make a short answer long, I think the D-backs and Dodgers will be in the divisional race with the Diamondbacks holding the title as it turns to October

I am picking the Atlanta Braves to rebound and return to the unprecedented dominance they enjoyed in the division from 1991 through 2005. It is a streak that has never been matched in any sport as far as I know. Off season moves have helped the team immensely. I think they can compete now with the Mets for first place.

I'd say the Dodgers. They have an extremely speedy 1-2 punch at the top of their order with Juan Pierre and Rafael Furcal.

The dodgers are the team to beat this year. They have a very good blend of speed and guys that hit for average in their lineup.
Their get them on, get them over, get them in philosophy should fare well this season.
The pitching looks good as well.
