I'm currently on a diet and i was wondering, does menstruation help you lose weight? or does it make you gain weight? or is it neutral?

Also, if menstruating helps you lose weight, can you eat anything you want and still gain nothing?

Thanks in advance :)

No, it usually doesn't help one lose weight. If anything, you have odd cravings (usually for sweets and salty things...think candy and chips!), and a LOT of women end up with water retention right before they menstruate, so weight if anything, might go up a pound or two during that portion of a woman's cycle.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

For most women there is something called water weight gain. Their weight can flux from nothing to 10+ pounds every month. No, you cannot eat anything you want without reprocussions later. Unless you have a tapeworm, but that is a different problem all together.

Menstruation has nothing to do w/weight loss but the symptoms from having ur friend can cause u to gain weight if u go overboard w/the cravings, u know like for something sweet and chocolate..

But the purpose of it is to shed an unfertilized egg nothing more...

No you will not lose weight. You will gain water weight around that time of the month, but that is it. If you eat anything you want, you will gain weight.

Actually just before your period, you will gain slightly because of water retention...so watch the salt intake. You shold lose that when the period begins. There is no other weight loss connected to having periods.

menstruation has nothing to do with weight loss; it is the biological porcess where the womb sheds itself, after having accumulated a layer of 'mucus.' if you eat anything you want you will gain everything you ate.
