Wow, I never realized how cheap ppl are. If the service is fast and everything I ordered is there, I definitely tip. It isn't always going to be the 20% I tip when eating at a restaurant, but the more difficult the order, the more I tip. I didn't know so many ppl didn't tip! Craziness. I was a waitress for many many years so maybe that has something to do with it.

Yes. Servers are required by law to claim a percentage of their sales as tips...even if they don't get that amount in tips. The proper tip is 10% for takeout instead of the usual 15%. Check your bill first tho. Many restaurants add a takeout charge or a gratuity onto your bill. If either of those is on there you don't need to tip.

Yes, and some resturants will automaticly add 10% tip to take out orders. The server takes the time to place your order in a container and bag so they deserve a tip for the effort they put into preparing your order for takeout. If it is a fastfood resturant then no tip is necessarry.

Usually you tip the server for being the middleman between yourself and the kitchen, and for making sure your meal goes as smoothly as possible. Tipping when you order to go AT the restaurant doesn't seem necessary. Some restaurants have roadside sevice- where you call in the order, come to pick it up- and they bring it out to your car- you should probably tip the person who brought your food out.

Yes.This is only if the restaurant excepts the tip,the first few times around. It makes for better friends and bigger orders if you keep going to same place. It is a matter of respect for those that work hard to make your food taste so good...Tom Science 4

As a courtesy, yes. Who takes those orders most of the time is the cashier, who's doing extra effort to keep up with your order plus dealing with customers paying at the same time; You see now?. I think is worth the tip.

Tip the server - regardless of the place of business. If you just go in & get a bag with your name on it & leave, there's no server and no tip.

If the server worked with you, got all your stuff together, made sure you had the dipping sauces (or BBQ sauce or whatever)and made your life a little easier, then tip the person.

as "007" you should be cool and only tip the servers that give you good service, extra large portions, and look real good to you ... this three point check-up of the best servers is a must and you can also use this as the "first name-get to know" for the ONLY purpose of getting a fast phone in order to go... if you start thinking the servers are dating partners then you lost a good "to go place." ___

No you don't, but some places like Togo's, pizzerias etc. will have a jar on the pick up counter for tips if you feel so inclined. If the service was fast, good and friendly I do drop some change in the jar sometimes......it's strictly optional.

No because "tipping" comes from the theological idea that you are rewarding a waiter for providing you physical service ie; food from kitchen to your table or drinks from the fountain machine to your table. When you are ordering out, they really arent doing that much for you, ergo no tip is necessary for a take out.
