Hi! I have a pregnant guppy and today I noticed that she had three tiny black dots that were located at her stomach. Are these tiny black dots the babies eyes? Also she has been staying near the ground and trying to hide. Is this normal?

it's not their eyes----it is the babies themselves that appear like dots in the belly area---CONGRATULATIONS!

they get a "black spot" or gravid point rite where the stomach ends. it is very noticable and u will be able to see that it is not a solid black spot, instead it is many many tiny black dots (fry eyes) she will start to look square from the back when she is close to dropping...about the fry...if you have a drop tank then that would be perfect once she starts getting square, put her in one...maybe a 10 gallon tank or a large tubberware with frequent water changes and some plants. if none else you coud put the fry in a breeding box or net inside the tank with the 4 guppies. if putting them in the breeder box...do NOT put the mother in there before/during birth. this will stress her out and could possibly kill her and her fry. instead, heavily plant your tank and catch the fry that havent been eaten yet...then put them in the breeder box. guppy fry are born fairly developed so they will be able to eat tropical flake foods as long as you crush them to a powder... also they will stay at the bottom of the drop tank/ breeder box for a few days because they dont start free swiming for maybe 3-4 days.

It's called the "gravid spot." It's just one of those identifying features of a pregnant female. Some people claim it's the babie's eyes, but they haven't proven that for sure.

the dots are the yolk sac, they will usually try to hide while giving birth, have fun!
