Answer them politely cause maybe they didn't know how to put it a better way...I wouldn't give them an attitude about it, cause I know how it feels-I sometimes don't always know things so it is better to ask than to be afraid to speak up.
Example: I worked at McDonalds in the past and people would ask "Where is the trash can?" In my mind it would be like "Duh?", but it doesn't need to be made a federal case so I would usually point to where it was or if I was close to or would be going by I would offer to take it for them and they would appreciate the kindness.

Well, I used to work for a call center. If our supervisor heard us giving sarcastic or smart @ss answers, we would get pulled up by them. However stupid the question, just answer it, normally.
