I do it with a smile

Answer them politely cause maybe they didn't know how to put it a better way...I wouldn't give them an attitude about it, cause I know how it feels-I sometimes don't always know things so it is better to ask than to be afraid to speak up.

Example: I worked at McDonalds in the past and people would ask "Where is the trash can?" In my mind it would be like "Duh?", but it doesn't need to be made a federal case so I would usually point to where it was or if I was close to or would be going by I would offer to take it for them and they would appreciate the kindness.

Well, I used to work for a call center. If our supervisor heard us giving sarcastic or smart @ss answers, we would get pulled up by them. However stupid the question, just answer it, normally.

With sarcasm....usually they are so stupid it all goes over their head anyway. It's win win.

Courteously...probably in a way that they don't find out that I am being sarcastic...or I eat them.
