To get the rust off, you can use a brillo pad or any other steel wool pad, it will easily take the rust right off without a lot of rubbing, and without damaging the chrome.

You can get a chrome polish to keep them from rusting, but it will wear off after about a month in normal use, probably faster on the beach.

Best way to keep them shiny is after cleaning the rust and any dirt away, dry them out real good and spray some clearcoat on them.

Just FYI, most of the polishes and cleaners that remove rust require a lot of elbow grease to remove the rust. The steel wool makes it an easy job.

Chrome polish. The salt from the beach promotes rusting on the metal.
