Try not to stress too much about it, talk to your doctor before the birth and let him/her know about your concerns. Or you can do what I did, I told my mother to do it as we were on our way to the hospital. The doctors will understand, they will have seen this before, so I'm sure even if they weren't pre-warned about it that they would know when they look at it what it is.
Good luck!
I wish you all the best for the birth of your new baby!

First, scrap that "delivery table," "displayed," _nonsense_.
"As a birth position, it has been popular in the past with obstetricians as it allows a good view of the birth process. However, the position is not conducive to a smooth labor as it constricts the birth canal, puts pressure on the coccyx, prevents the fetal ejection reflex from occurring, and does not allow the mother to move during the process, therefore increasing pain in labor. Today, few birth centres or labour wards in Western countries use the lithotomy position for active labour. One notable exeception, however, is the United States, where the lithotomy position remains common for active labor."

I'm no fan of hospitals, but I understand you can ask to have the lights turned down...

I was so embarrassed when I had my first child, that I was so paranoid about even my mom being in the room when I gave birth. I didn't want any doctors or nurses to look at me either. BUT when it all came down to it, I certainly did not care as I a m sure you will not either. Embarrassment will be the farthest thing from your mind, I'm sure. An ddon't worry, doctors and nurses see all kinds of things everyday. they are used to it. Don't worry about it at all!

the only advice that i can give is;
don't worry!!! and u'll probley forget that it is there when that TIME comes. lots of overweight people has a discoloration on the inner thighs and lots of overweight people has given birth. so, i can promise u that u are not alone with this problem, for i myself am one of those people and i have given birth and it didn't cross my mind during birth at any time. plus, doctors/nurses have seen it all. my biggest worry was gas, lol....
good luck and happy deliverly!!!

you may be thinking a lot about these discolorations, but the dr wont. you've got to remember, dr's have seen EVERYTHING that there is to see pretty much, so you have nothing to worry about. also, the dr is not there to judge, and nobody else is either. the dr is there to deliver your precious baby. so dont worry so much about your delivery. you'll be fine, and nobody will say anything about your thighs. Good luck and God bless!

Usually the doctor delivering your baby has seen you down there a time or two already- if you had prenatal care. So it may come as no surprise. But during delivery is no time to worry about such superficial things.

Doctors and nurses see all sorts of things, and discoloration should not surprise them at all. They see many things. I think birth is beautiful and I really doubt they will be paying attention to discoloration, only to the baby coming out :-)
Good luck with your delivery!
