The very first thing that comes to any ones mind is HELL yes. There is a very BIG BUT. All that glitters is not gold and in the very end there would be very little change in any thing. Please keep in mind that We have a national election every two years and one that includes our very President every four years and at present we can't get every one out to vote for these,....not even half. Remember that your question is we and vote. I would ask who is we and what vote?It was said many years ago, "when a person can vote them selves a pay increase then we will no longer exist," we are dangerously close to that now. While I understand the sentiment I would urge all who are interested to write to their congress person and don't ask for change but demand it and if they don't do your bidding then write editorials, blogs, or what ever and let others know. I will tell you if you don't know a member of either branch of congress has a salary of $165,000 plus many perks, and a power base that won't quit. They don't want you saying anything and if you do they will start to fall in line or simply vote them out of office.

Sorry, but in its worst form it would give power to those with enough money to fund initiatives, and to buy the advertising to promote it.
By the way, the Congress is composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives. It is not a separate entity.

I like the idea, but the problem with that is that when would people find the time to vote on a national ballot as often as needed. If you can get around that problem you can have a chance with this idea.

absolutely not. The public is A: too lazy, B: not well enough informed, and C: way too stupid to do this.
while politicians do suck, they are way way way better than a bunch of americans that cant even get up to vote for the president, or figure out who theyre voting for the day of the election.

They have something like that is California. It just causes chaos and clogs up the ballot with a lot of junk.

i've been wondering the same thing myself.
i think the only real power that regular american taxpayers have is how we spend our money.
it may be that the only alternative left is for american consumers to organize and approach companies directly and tell them what specifically we want our 'elected' officials to do...
