None- whether you are for or against zoos, you need to understand that the animals would not be able to survive anywhere else. They do not know how to survive on their own. If you open the door, most wouldn't even go out of the enclosure- they don't know the world out there.
That is one of the reasons I am so against PETA- they set animals free from research facilties- it sets an example, yes, but do you know what happens to all of those animals? They die because they don't know how to find food, shelter, what a predator is, etc.

Unless I could return them to their native habitat, none, and even then, none, because an animal that has been raised in captivity has no idea how to make a living on it's own, and the days of wild collecting for zoos are long over.

People are saying the monkeys, but have any of them ever -worked- with monkeys? Have they ever done a search on monkey attacks? Monkeys are mean evil little creatures, I don't want them running around.

The biggest problem here is that animals that are used to being fed by people will seek people out to get meals. I can just see a tiger or something being set free from a zoo and going to look for a meal, sheesh..........

All the birds. They are meant to fly free. Actually I would like to see them all set free. They came from the wild and that's where they belong.

i would set free the whales. they're forced to do stupid shows with people gawking at them, but if i had a choice, i would set free every animal from any zoo and circus. they're cruel.

I think that I would set free the camels. Just cause their slow and they wouldn't eat people.

You assume that they would somehow have more "freedom." This article is kind of interesting because it takes a different approach:
