I am in love with a man wholives in Panama. I live in the USA, although my work allows me to live naywhere I choose. He is finalizing a divorce, has two kids and own three companies which keep him very busy so we see each other every two months. We talk 1-3 times a day on the phone for five to ten minutes at a time. I would move to Panama when things we serious and I was moving there for the realtionship, but not just to see if it works out, a big commitment for a "not sure" I cannot decide if I should cut my losses now or continue for a nother 6-12 months (it has been 4... seen each other twice. When I think of not having in my life my chest hurts and I can barley breathe. He says he thinks of me constantly and it kills him not to talk to me or see me, but he has his hands very full with (soon X, 2 kids, 3 biz's and his big latin fam.). If I fall any further for him and it doesnt work I will be devastated, I'd do anything to be with him but I dont know if these things work out

There are alot of long distance relationships that work out and end up in marriage. Mine did! But we spent at least 6-10 hours every night 'chatting' on the net. Talking to someone a couple times a day for 5-10 mins doesn't give you much time to really get to know each other.

It sounds like there are alot of other things for you to consider besides just the distance. Have you gone to Panama to visit him and see what it's like there? He's got alot of baggage. The ex and kids could be a constant source of stress in your life if you should happen to move in with him. If you haven't been down there, I'd suggest going for a visit to see what his situation is.

Also, you might check into what the laws are regarding an American living in Panama. Would you have to officially immigrate? If so, what would be involved in that? It is hard to move to another country and have to adjust to a whole new life, especially when he doesn't have much time to spend with you. So take everything into consideration before making a final decision.
Good Luck!

My parents met in university, them my mother moved about 5000 km away. There were in an LDR for 2 or 3 years before they got married (and still are). However, she was pretty sure she wanted to marry him when she graduated, but just wasn't ready to get married yet.
