No. Destroying the Earth is harder than you may have been led to believe.

You've seen the action movies where the bad guy threatens to destroy the Earth. You've heard people on the news claiming that the next nuclear war or cutting down rainforests or persisting in releasing hideous quantities of pollution into the atmosphere threatens to end the world.

Fools.

The Earth was built to last. It is a 4,550,000,000-year-old, 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000-ton ball of iron. It has taken more devastating asteroid hits in its lifetime than you've had hot dinners, and lo, it still orbits merrily.

Do not think this will be easy.

The world is here to stay (well, at least for a few billion more years). Nothing anyone can do can possibly destroy it.

The human race, on the other hand, well... I don't know, but we seem to be trying as hard as we can to kill ourselves...

From a humanities perspective... it's really interesting that so many "end times" prophecies (which don't actually predict an end - just a major change) seem to be coming up at the same time... Mayan calendar, Aztec calendar, Inca calendar, Nostradamus predicted a global shift shortly after the turn of the year 2000, the Fatima prophecies and various other Christian stuff (apparently, this is the last Pope, amongst other things), etc... All place this shift in the same general window of time.

*shrug* I guess we'll see.

Nope. People have been predicting That the world is about to end for about as long as there have been people, and Every time they've predicted it, It has completely failed to come true. It has to happen eventually, But It isn't Happening now. Hope It happens well after I die. I have stuff To do here! It would be alarmingly inconvenient If it all ended Now with So Much left Undone.

Enjoy.

Our world as a planet, maybe not, our world as we know it, yes. Just how drastically and how fast it will change/end cannot really be determined. The earth is ever changing and just as the dinosours died out, so will other animals and possibly even humans. But just as it is ending, it is also a beginning of a new and different world. But unless massive nuclear bombing starts, we probably will not see this end/change/beginning.

That depends on what your concept of "world" is. If you are asking if our society's condition of civilization is unraveling into barbarianism, then I would say yes. If you are speaking scientifically and wondering if some force, such as global warming or other catastrophe is taking hold, then I say no. If you are referring to some religious apocolypse scenario, then I would say no. My personal view of how this world will end gives the earth atleast another thousand years, so don't sweat it, go see a movie or something...

From the moment this world was created it began ending....
From the moment we are born we began the process of dying...
From the moment an apple on a tree became an apple and began the process of maturing (rotting/dying)

Yes, the world is coming to an end. You didn't ask for a date and I'm not supplying one....it just is going to end.

Only if everyone is not willing to do their part.
I believe one day of each week, not one person should drive anywhere. Think about how helpful that would be for our earth.

Sooner or later. Currently, no one seems to know when sooner or later is. If we continue our behavior now, it won't make much difference anyway. The planet won't be able to sustain life.
