I think it's very racist.... Randy's a Uncle Tom, Paula doesn't know what race she is, and Simon's a caucasian foreigner that really doesn't know BLACK AMERICA! Even another caucasian foreigner, Elton John said that it's racist.....
I HATE THAT SHOW AND I'LL NEVER SUPPORT IT!!!!!!!

It's like this I dont see how such a diverse show as american idol could possibly be racist. I mean you have 3 different judges from different walks of life judging contestants and if American Idol was racist then you would not have a very diverse group of contestents getting sent to hollywood so I say it's not racist. But what I want to know why everything that goes wrong in society or on TV it's Blamed on racism. I am not a racist in any way but dang of all the shows on tv. How could anybody say its racist. I'm sorry but Randy's not a Uncle Tom. I dont know many Uncle Tom types that used to sport afro's. So watch the show and quit trying to figure out how show's are racist, sexist or other kinds of crap.

I don't think it's racist, they just know who their demographic are and they cater to them. All previous winners and runner-ups have been from the south with the exception of Justin Guar-whatever. If you notice, they've had a lot of country girls and stuff the last couple of years because they knwo exactly where all the votes are coming from, the south. Now, is the south racist? That's a whole new topic, but I think the show just caters to their audience.

As for Randy being an Uncle Tom, I think that's a pretty racist comment. Just because he grew up learning an instrument and played with primarily white band mates, and may act "white," what the hell ever. And Simon, he's just British, who are very straightforward with their feelings. He puts down every race equally.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Are you a racist? It sure sounds like it to me. I haven't seen or heard Paula, Randy, or Simon say or do anything that could be percieved as racist. And remember, it's America who decides who the winner is. There's been 2 white winners and 2 black winners so far. Doesn't appear that America's as racist as you think. All of the judges have either dated or married outside of their race, so it appears that none of the judges are racist in any way. Good luck.

wow what a conspiracy theory!
I dont think its racist and there's no proof 4 u to back it up. But both Ruben Studdard, and Fantasia Barrino were previous American Idol winners and they're both African American. So if its racist, explain how they got on the show, let alone won the contest! And how about all the other African Americans who have been on the show? I think ppl just find any excuse to hate the show, but that's not a great one. If you don't like it say so, but don't make up excuses as to y u don't like it. I flat out don't like the show. i think its boring and i don't enjoy hearing people sing badly, and i'll say it, but I don't think its racist.

No. Randy, Paula, and Simon tell people the truth-whether they're great or they suck-regardless of race. They've told Hispanics, Caucasians, blacks, and Indians their opinions. After all, they ARE professionals in the music biz. If people can't handle their judgement, then they call the JUDGES racist bleeping bleep bleeps and other nasty comments. HELLO? YOU asked for them to judge you! They're doing their job!

Darn James, did you try out for it and not make it or something?
Don't watch it much but can't see how you could claim it is racist.
Two of the four winners have been black. Two of the three judges are black. Do the math.

Agree with Daisy 23 (above me) in everything she said!

I love it! Mainly when a very good one appears and gets approved.

In time: Agree with 2D too. Very well said!

Again: Agree with Phat Kidd too!
