Do I have to have an Employer Identification Number to apply for ISBN numbers?

I'm self pubishing several books and need to apply for ISBN numbers. Can I just register it as a sole propritorship, or do I have to do the EIN thing? Has anyone else done this?

No EIN is required, but you may want the works published owned by an organization instead of you owning them personally. This protects from liability if that is a concern.

The simplest, fastest way is to register them in your name, but this may not be what best serves your interest.
