At about 3 weeks old he started to cry about 2-3 days a week when feeding him at about the same time everyday. Then at about 6 weeks he does it everyday. He does it for about 11/2 -2 hours at night right before bed. A couple times last week he did it ALL day!It sounds like colic, but I am not sure. We switched formula to gentalease and give his gas drops, he seems to be better some days. He does have alot of gas, and will cry when he passes it. Also...How long does the gentalease supposed to help his gas, I just switched 3 days ago? You also know when he is going to cry, he kicks and grunts almost like he is in pain/discomfort. I have also tried excersises with him to help releive the pressure, he seems to like it and smiles, but he get cranky fast and want to eat but it's like he can't becasue he hurts ); What else can I do to make him happier?

Try rubbing his tummy while you feed him, that may help bring some comfort if it is gas. Did your peditrician recommend switching his formula or did you just do it on your own? If you did it on your own I would call his doctor and explain what you think the babies problem is and see what he suggests! Also warm dry washcloths placed over his sleepers on top of his tummy will relieve gas!Just throw it in the dryer for a little while and take out and lay it on his tummy. Does he have good bowel movements??If not and becuz you say he has alot of gas he very well may be constipated-in that case get some clear Karo syrup and put a very little bit in a baby bottle of warm water and let him drink just a sip or two and it should help him move his bowels! Good Luck!

A lot of times babies that age just have tons and gas, and you can't always do anything about it. As they get older it gets better. For gas relief: keep up with the Gentlease, give him gasdrops when necessary, gently rub back, or press tummy against your chest. If none of this works it may be a digestive problem or colic. If you can't solve the problem on your own you should ask the doctor for advice.

if its colic there is an easy solution and it works. i learned it when my granddaughter went through colic and ive used it with success on many babies since then. lets see if i can succesfully explain it. begin as if you are going to make a pan of rice. warm some water, it doesnt have to be hot, toss in a handful of rice, stir until the water becomes white with the starch from the rice. strain out the rice, keeping the water, put it in the bottle and feed it to him. when my granddaughter was in real pain and needed it now, i would put water in the bottle as warm as she could safely drink, put the rice in the bottle and shake. it doesnt take a lot of rice, maybe a tablespoon for an 8 oz bottle. it works wonders, and it saved my sanity. rice is also hypoallergenic so you dont have to worry about a reaction. starch water rocks! :) good luck! if you have any questions you can email me at sarcausticality@yahoo.com

He has colic and you're doing all you can to help him when he gets gassy. To help prevent it use bottles like the Playtex nursers and remove all the air before you give it to him so he has less chance of gulping air. Make him stop eating every 2-3 ounces to burp, my son was very hard to burp! Put him high on your shoulder and walk with him, he'll love looking around until he burps. Then give him 2-3 more ounces. I hope this helps you! It worked for us. Good Luck! =)

You could give him the baby gas drops at every feeding. Or switch his formula to soy, not milk based. But you should consult your doctors advice.

well, breastmilk would have been the best solution two months ago, but i'm guessing you have no milk left if he's two months old and on formula. thanks for the stupid answer above mine. simethicone may do the trick.
