you can be a hippie or a granola girl or a free spirit or a gypsy or an individualist or a tree-hugger if you want to; but no label will ever cover the gamut, and there will always be people out there who will judge you or dislike you for whatever label you have. if you wanna be a hippie, that's fine, it's not necessarily a bad thing. if you think it is, you're just letting your own prejudices show. words only have the meanings that we give to them.

why don't you invent your own word to describe yourself, and then when people ask you what you are you can tell them. And then whe they say what's that then you can tell them even more.

You are what you are, no label can fully describe that. Why do you label yourself a HIPPIE? A naturist/environmentalist might hug trees, pink is a very common color liked by many, short dresses are everywhere if you hadn't noticed, moving in rhythm to music is normal. Smoking weed is optional (albeit illegal) and many 'non-hippies' (e.g. lawyers, doctors, accountants) smoke the stuff.
Just be yourself and lose the labels, which are meaningless

Hmmm... while I agree with some previous answers that labeling can be a bad thing, I think that almost everyone feels the need to describe themselves - a way to identify themselves to others.

From your description, I think that you could simply tell people that you are a "free spirit" and that should sum it up quite nicely.

thats not a hippie. a hippie typically is a weed smoking protestor of peace, fighting the power.

I grew up in the 60's and I always thought of myself as a free-spirit...

I second that cat's answer. (Almighty, whoever) You are who you are, and you don't need labels or words to justify that. In some ways labels can even cheapen your sense of self. Just be who you are, and know that anyone who questions it, or feels that they need to label you, or that you need to label yourself, doesn't deserve to know you anyway.

There's no nice or intelligent way to label anything. That's what labels are, stupid and useless.

I don't understand why you want a "label" for yourself.
