you are using a ps/2 keyboard connection. on a restart see if you can use the keyboard to enter the bios, by pushing either Esc, Del, or F2 the second that you turn on the computer. if that doesn't work then the port is probably bad, so get a usb port keyboard

"Cause: If your keyboard does not respond at all, there is a communication problem between the keyboard and your computer, and a few possible explanations.
Try these solutions:
Check the connection on the keyboard port. The keyboard may not be plugged in. If your keyboard has worked previously, this most often is the cause of the problem. Just plug the keyboard in securely, and the keyboard should start working.
If the keyboard is plugged in correctly but still not working, reboot your computer and see if Windows XP can redetect and install it.
If this does not work, you may need to get a keyboard driver from the keyboard manufacturer or get technical support help to solve the problem. "

There is a posibilty that your motherboard's keyboard PS/2 slot might have gone bad. Did you change the keyboard with another computer's keyboard that you thought migh have been working?, you may want to test your bad keyboard in another computer if you have one. Have you tried using a USB keyboard? I had this very same problem what I did was I changed my pc keboard with a mac's keyboard.

When you restart your computer did you notice that the number lock, caps lock, and sroll lock indicator (LED) lights simultaneously lights up? If soo,,, your keyboard is functional and try to log on again. If that will not work and still your keyboard didn't work, try to turn off your computer again and turn it on, and if that wont work, try to check if the connector pin of your keyboard has a defect, im talking about the cable of your keyboard connected to your CPU. Check your PIN if it is complete or some PIN's are bent try to fix the bent pin using the long nose or plier to straighten the bent pin and try to turn off your computer and turn it on. If the problem still occurs buy a new keyboard or consult to your nearest computer shop.
thnks...

Did the Keyboard come with an Installation CD that you should use to make it your, or maybe you might have to open up your computer and look at the card (the slot in where you put the keyboard int the computer) and make sure it is not loose.

probably the Keyboard gate(IC Chip) of your motherboard failed. Connecting a PS2 keyboard is not possible. Use a USB based Keyboard

If you get no lights on your keyboard (pushing CapsLock, NumLock or Scrolllock) then dead keyboard unless it happens on 2 keyboards, then you have lost the 5volts on the keyboard port.
If you can use your keyboard in your BIOS settings, and lose it after your operating system starts, then driver or virus.
