when they put the brakes on the fronts brakes will lock on and make you car not stop as well , like makeing a sharp turn on the race trake you put the brakes on and the fronts lock ,you end up in the wall

In drag racing,some cars are equipped with line locks that allow the driver to "lock the front" wheels and keep the rear wheels free to provide for a more effective burn out to heat the tires before the car stages and launches off the line. Heated tires provide better traction for a more effective launch.

in drag if means your are on the starting line you have a switch that holds your front brakes on called a line lock .you hit the brakes then the button and you can let go of the brakes but the front are locked then you floor the gas ans just be for the light turns green you hit the release button
