It depends on what type of jazz you are interested in. If you go for mainstream jazz, like I do, anything by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong will be good. For new takes on old songs, try Diane Schuur's My Tribute. If you like Bossa Nova, the Astrud Gilberto Silver Collection is a great album.
