this is for a school project. what i need are teen facts that parents REALLY have no clue about like "i only drink vodka so my parents won't smell alcohol on my breath." not "teens usually drink at parties" because well, they most likely already know that. it doesn't necessarily have to do with alcohol or drugs and sex, just average teenage life. well, anyways, thanks :)

Parents know everything! they just don't want to admit it! They think everything will just "go away" Trust me, they know more than you think an they're not dumb!

alot of teens keep things from there parents b/c they are scared what the out come would be! like they wont tell there parents that they are doing drugs...drinking..or having sex..b/c they dont wanna get a lecture..and be critized (however u spell) for what they are doing! and for the most part the kids are experimenting..and a high % grows out of that stage..! some take longer then others.. another thing that i hid from my parents when i was a teenager..my tattoos and piercings! i was raised in a jewish family! and i wasnt really allowed tattoos..soo i had to keep them on the downlow for a while..to protect my self from a lecture! i hope this helps in someway.. and you dont have to tell your parents everything!

parents usually dont know about their teens depression, or how they are being treated at school or anywhere for that matter, teens usually dont tell their parents much of anything unless they are like SUPER cool with their parents & can talk to them like that...

there are alot of things parents dont know about their own kids...& drinking vodka doesnt make it so you cant smell alcohol...because believe me that stuff is like PURE alcohol lol...thats all it smells like...parents would know right off the bat if you were drinking if that was the case lol...uhh & 11 year olds & up are really going to raves/parties popping xtc, eating shrooms, smoking weed when they tell their parents they are sleeping over at a friends house....

think of it...there are TONS of things that kids lie about & get away with

hi,
first i am not a teen but i do have a few things to say about what i have just read. what makes you think that just because you are teen that you have a handle on life. yes we as parents don't know every thing that you are doing. but half if not all the things that you are doing we either did it when we were your age ( yes we were your age at on time in our lives) or we have thought about doing and decided not to do it.like your example of the vodka, yeah real smart it is total alcohol, we also know that you can hear us with the door open that is why we shuffle our feet or stump our feet or clear our throats when coming to your "open door room, "in hopes that you will get the hint that we know what you are doing and stop. we know that when you hang out it is more than a move and sometimes it not even a move at all, we want to trust that you will do the right thing if we give you the chance.it is not about who is the smartest in this battle of young vs. old it is about helping you become adults.and living through you teen years, because we love you enough to put you on this earth and we want you to have the best life we can give you. it is not a competition to see who will get the trophy at the end of the game because the game goes on even after we are gone. i gave my now 24 year old the confidence to become anything that he wishes to be and he did just that. that is what your parents are trying to do for you. you say stop treating us like children yet you act like children. doing things that you know are wrong just to get a little attention, you already have that attention yet you want more.did you know that parents worry the entire time that you are hanging as you say. not so much what you are doing anymore but will he/she make it home okay, will i be callled to the police station to night to identify my childs body. and if we are called to the police station we are happy at times that it is just to bail you out and not to identify you on a pice of cold metal slab. we worry that you may have wrapped yourself around a tree or a light post because you were to drunk to get home or that you were shot down in the streets for whatever resason there maybe these are the things we have to worry about, and much more. your life is special to us even if you don't think it is.

Well, if a parent is too strict the teen will lie and say he/she is going to work or a friends house or make up an excuse and go to a party or go out with their date, or something they aren't allowed to do. The more strict the parent the more the teen will go behind their back!

I would say they don't know who their friends are. I had a friend that was totally about making parents OK with things but when we were not around parents she smoked, drank, slept around, everything. I also don't think parents know what most of the jargon on the computer is that their teens use. I know I don't know much of it and I am only 25. Just my experience though.

Because most parents do not care what their kids are doing just as long as they are out of the house and their face and another reason is some parents thinks that their kid is oh so perfect and would dare have sex or do drugs.

Sheila tells her mom that she is staying at my house for the night, I tell my mom I am staying at Sheila's house for the night. Did my parents or her mom ever talk on the phone to assure this was happening? Nope. Oh what a night that was. Sheila and I stayed out all night long having a grand ole time. Now, that I think back, if something bad would of happened to us, I wonder who they would of blamed? Sheila and I, or our parents for not checking up on us. Bottom line, teenagers can get away with alot if they know how their parents operate.

I took advantage of my mother's trust, and about 50% of the time I said I was doing something, I would be going somewhere else-- usually to a boys house, driving somewhere she didnt want me to go, or to a party.

So assume that all teens, regardless of grades, or trust, are sneaking out.

I'm a teen and i think parents don't know a lot about their teens because my mother or father don't know every thing about me. They aren't going to tell you every single thing so i guess you have to deal with it the best why you know how. i was 3 months pregnant before i told my parents
