I'm majoring in law (criminal justice) and I can't figure out why men and women in today's society are still carrying their social security cards in their wallets, I carry my card when I need it in case of emergencies and when I don't need it I keep it in a safe place. But you would think with all of the identiy thefit one would be more cautious; say for instance your lose your purse or wallet or it get's stolen then what??? Maybe it's a personal decision I'd like to hear any feedback anyone wants to offer.

Social Security cards are used for the purpose of identification for gvernment purposes only. It should not be used for any other purposes. For instance like banks, schools medical and other information the government needs.

because then, i don't have to worry about something that happened recently. i was getting ready to start a new job, and like a good girl , i didn't carry my ssc with me. i had just moved and things were kinda disorganized. starting a new job, i needed proof of idenity, (two forms) and when i went looking for my ssc, i couldn't find it!
finally, like, three hours later, i found it, but it was the night before i started my new job and i was freaking out!!

Thanks for reminding me to remove it from my wallet. I forget. I got a new one, and on the card it said 'do not carry with you.' I had never known that, it was always with me. But I am taking mine out today. Thank you !!!!

by keeping it on me, i do not have to worry about it being stolen from my house.
i have never lost my wallet since i was old enough to have money in it. and i keep it in a pocket that has either a zipper or button closure.

maybe they are going to an important place, or maybe if they have to use that info frequently they use their card so its easier to remember, try playing their role in life i think it will help
