It all really depends on what you are willing to do. When I was sixteen ( I'm now 27 ) I took up two jobs during the summer and kept one of them for my junior year. The summer job was working for the city's park and recreation. Went around in van with other kids like myself and cleaned areas of the city that were unkept from the winter. I cut grass, trimmed hedges in park, picked up liter. I made $7/hr and was a load of money for me since I never recieved allowances. At times it was hard work but I had a possitive attitude about it. That went from 7 in the morning to 2 in the evening. Then at night I took up working at the movie theatres. All in all I would make good money to buy new clothes and other stuff.
Now that I look back, all the hard work at an early age prepared me for the fast paced world. On the other hand, I missed out on being sixteen and enjoying it.
My suggestion to you is that if you absolutly need money or are looking for financial independence from your parents then go for it. Just keep a positive attitude no matter what it is you do for work. Always be courteous to your supervisers or employers and put your best face forward. Run an ad in your local paper offering your services. Walking dogs, house sitting, mowing lawns, helper for moving furniture or just handyman type stuff around the house. (works great for older people who need small tasks performed or just someone to talk to).
I know this is long but I hope it helps.
Good luck kiddo.

I had my first job when I was 13 years old taking care of horses at a small farm in town, but my first real job was at the local ski area. I worked in the rental shop and that is where I started to make some of the good friends that I have to this day.(I am 35 years old.) Skiing is the only sport that I was good at and it seemed like a good choice for a job. The pay was low but I got to ski every day for free. As a first time employee, almost anything that you look at will offer min. wage, so try to find something that you like. You dont have to work fast food,in fact I would discourage it. I ended up working at that ski area for 12 years and worked my way up to a manager of Snowmaking.

try bee-chung hiang bbq meat for cny?? 5.50 per hour. Sheng Siong - 4.50 per hour... Noel packaging - 70 cents to S$ per hamper pack... Plenty of opportunity to pick up your first job and overtime.
Work from the ground... after getting the "eye" and scolding from your supervisor, you will never be shy and scared anymore...
You will be singing... "I will survive" and act with confidence.
