I had a d&c and i just reached my 6 week point. I haven't had a cycle yet. So i took a test and it was positive. I have been using protection just so you know. So i called my dr and they said some people can have a false positive. And to wait until i'm 10 weeks and take another test. I feel like i'm pregnant! Tenderness, nausea, hormones! Has anyone heard of this or had a false positive after a d&c?

my dr's office didn't seem to care for me to get a blood test. i did get one when i was having the miscarriage, but its been 6 weeks since my d&c. so why would they blow me off and say wait another month and take another test? shouldn't i have started by now?

I went through a very similar situation. I had a positive home test weeks after my D&C. My doctors monitored my hCG levels and I had blood draws every 2-3 days for weeks - 13 draws in total until my levels were low enough to be considered not pregnant (<5). There is the risk that the D&C did not get everything and your body could be harboring a mass which could be dangerous for you.
You should seek out a second opinion. In my experience your doctor is being negligent.

The best thing would be to get a blood test. The only way to find out if your pregnant or not would be to determine your hCG levels. Your doctor should have a record of the las count and from that she would see if the levels are lower than the last but still there (indicating that you're not pregnant and the hCG on the test you already took is just "residue") or if the levels are higher than the last blood test it's almost certain you're pregnant. Best of luck and if you are pregnant God Bless and congratulations, but if you're not keep trying and you will be blessed with another baby.

Lastly, if you have been pregnant recently, it's possible that the test is detecting residual hCG. However, if a pregnancy ends early on, it's unlikely that hCG will remain in your system very long, so most women have nothing to worry about here. (It's extremely common for women to conceive immediately following an early miscarriage; the body is "primed" for pregnancy, so to speak, and elevated progesterone left from the miscarriage gives the next embryo a great shot at a healthy implantation. So, most women really are detecting a new pregnancy.)
However, the more hCG you had in your system when the pregnancy ended, the longer it will take to dissipate. HPT's can even detect residual hCG for up to 6 weeks following a full-term birth. It's a possibility you should keep in mind if you get positive HPT results soon after a previous pregnancy ended.

Well, when I misscarried, I didn't have to have a d & c but I was 20 weeks along. I was pregnant again within 4 weeks. So if you have had sex then there is a chance you might be pregant again. It wont hurt you if you dont know about a pregnancy till 10 weeks along. But if you are worried about infection or something like that you either need to 1. Trust the dr if after you explained your concerns to him and if he says wait then wait, or 2. Get a new OBGYN! Good luck to you. Follow your instinces. God Bless you

It can take a while for the pregnancy hormones to get out of your blood. The only real way I can think to tell now would be to go have a blood test tomorrow and then another one 2 days later to verify that hormone levels are indeed going down instead of up.

I also knew I was pregnant but had a negative test, I waited a week and then it said I was pregnant, M y first sign was that my breast was extra sensitive when my husband grabbed it.
Also I would check into getting another doctor
