Possibly if it has a power steering pressure sensor in the high pressure line.
The sensor lets the computer know if excess draw is there to understand why it is correcting the idle to compensate.

No. The service light is only related to the engine control module (ECM). This light comes on when the ECM detects an irregularity or "fault" in the engine controls (sensors). When the power steering fluid is low you will hear a whining sound when you turn the steering wheel and you feel more resistance than usual.

Usually the Service Engine Soon light will come on when the computer is programmed for service ie. oil change and the service department should reset it when finished. The SES will also come on when the oxygen sensors in the fuel system are out of wack. This happens quite often if you fill up your tank and leave the engine running. Try shutting off your truck while re-fueling and see if that helps. Also, make sure your gas cap clicks at least three times when you tighten it.

The SES light is an emmissions control, no fluids will cause it to come on. It would only come on if there is a fault detected by the computer ( PCM) . Most usual cause is the Evaporative Emmissions problem. Sometimes as easy as a loose gas cap.
You would need to have scanned to determine cause.
I have been working in the service department, in a Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealer for 17 yrs.

Not necessarily. It could be the alternator or a variety of other components that may be going bad. I suggest you take it in to have the problem analyzed.
