do side lip piercings cause gum recession? and what kind of jewelery should i use to lower the chance of it?

It depends on your mouth and the placement of the piercing. When you move your mouth, does the piercing touch your gums at all? If so, then you have your answer. Mine didn't touch my gumline and I was fine. However, if you tend to play with things, you may find that you play with your piercing enough to have it hit against your teeth which can crack them.

If it has contact with your gum line it can cause gum recession. The rubbing over time causes damage to the gums and it's irreversible. I had a labret and I couldn't find any jewelry that prevented it. I lost gum tissue from one of my teeth and the only way to fix it is to have tissue surgically removed from the roof of your mouth and attached to your damaged gum line...and it's expensive...

i had my lip peirced for form of two years and that i had no issues whatso ever. my tooth are advantageous.. .nonetheless I even have heard it wears at your tooth. take it out once you sleep that way its no longer in for twenty-four hours at a time. thats what i did
