What exactly is a mileometer?

According to sites I found on Google (http://www.wordwebonline.com/en/MILEOMETER ), a mileometer is another name for an odometer, i.e. just a device that is used to measure how far someone travels in miles.

If that is what you mean, then the way to figure a circumference using a mileometer is simply to travel completely around the circle and read the mileometer to see how far you traveled.

Alternatively, you could start at the center of the circle and travel out to the edge of the circle. Then read the mileometer and multiply the reading by 2π, or about 6.28.

The way you phrase the problem, it sounds like you intend "mileometer" to mean a unit of measure.

I can't find any definition of a "mileometer" as a unit of measure, but when you're measuring circumference, the units you use don't really matter. You can either measure the circumference directly in "mileometers", or you can measure the distance from the center to the edge of the circle in "mileometers" and multiply the result by 2π or about 6.28.
