the bottom of the laptop gets very hot

My laptop burnt out by doing that. Put it on hard surface.

To work out what is going on put you mouth against the bed or any item of clothing you;re wearing and blow.... you will feel the bed getting hotter. That is exactly what is happening to your computer. Frabrics keep the heat in too much. Never keep a computer for long periods on a bed.

Have a look on the bottom, if the fan thing is also going out the bottom then you can be even more sure that a bed is a dangerous place for a computer. Putting your laptop on a hard surface will not create this effect and will stay cooler.

You don't wanna try this cuz it may really cause fire if you leave it there for more than 4 hrs.
Or your laptop will be damaged some of the ic by heat.

Yes. It will get a hotter resting on bedding than if it was on a table.
Also any damaged wires on the charger could cause a spark.

If it has batteries under recall I wouldn't trust it anywhere.

Most of the time, It just feels hot, but I don't think it will cause the bed sheets to catch fire. I, from personal experience, have never had a problem and the CPU/mobo goes as hot as 60C or even 70C. but don't take my advice, you can experiment on that for a while...
