i recently found out that they were sort mini classes that people can take to learn how to do various things as far as web design and programming goes...i have 17 credit hours this semester so i dont have the space for classes BUT if anybody knows some kind of sminar i can attend or some sort of unofficial class to learn some dreamweaver, photoshop, php please let me know

You might want to try downloading Microsofts Visual Web Developer 200 Express Edition, it is very good and it is FREE, then go to http://www.learnvisualstudio.net and download their free tutition videos and training files, and I also think that on their site they give you the link to D/L the Visual web developer too.
It is very good, both the product and the free tuition.
