2. COMMON ENEMY - Britain
a. unfair treatment
1. taxes- stamp act, tea act, currency act, sugar act, and townshend act
b. improper representation in parliament
3. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
4. ECONOMIC PROGRESSION
a. found that they worked better in a group or society rather than individually
