heavens forbid i get pregnant and the doctor says that there is over 98 percent chance that I and my baby will DIE due to health complications,
and my doc gives me an option for abortion...........why would it be your business what i do. if i die during the childbirth will you PERSONALLY take care and support my baby?
who are YOU to judge me and my life and look through my medical records and history? would you want ME or any other stranger to look through YOUR medical records and dictate what you should or shouldnt in times of crisis?
don't you think i as a woman am capable enough to make my own decisions regarding this matter?
abortion is a medical issue between ME and my doctor... who are you to take away my choice? who are you to look through my medical records?

The fundamental issue in the abortion debate is a debate over postulates, and hence irresolvable.

One side believes that human life begins at conception - If this is true, then abortion is homocide (the taking of a human life).

The other side believes that human life begins when the fetus is able to be reasonably self-sustaining (there is a variety in this definition)., hence early abortion is not homocide and hence should not be subject to any regulation.

There is no way to resolve exactly WHEN human life begins - so the debate is not going away any time soon.

For those who believe human life begins at conception, you can see why they feel it should be regulated - Under this belief, abortion at day 5 of the pregnancy is no different than murdering a baby that was born 5 days ago.

All the arguments about a woman's right to choose, or right to life, or whatever come down to this simple question - When does human life begin?

I hope that this helps explain both sides of the issue to you and make it a bit clearer.

Orion

PS: Full disclosure - I believe human life begins when the fetus is reasonably able to support itself (mid-2nd trimester) and that abortion should be legal within the first trimester at will and later only to save the mother's life.

Wow. Most people with your level of hostility against pro-lifers have been involved with an abortion at some point. I hope this is not the case, but if it is, please don't project your guilt and frustration onto people who would have been willing to help you do the right thing.

First of all, asking this question is exactly like saying, "If I want to abuse MY child, why is that considered your business?" You know, some people actually care when other people unjustly abuse and execute innocent children who cannot defend or speak for themselves. Abortion is the very worst kind of child abuse. If you abort a child, your body is not the only body involved. A child's heart begins beating just three weeks after conception.

Secondly, at least 480 American physicians recently testified that abortion is NEVER necessary to save a woman's life:

http://www.advocatesfortheinnocent.com/motherslife.html

Thirdly, if a child (or anyone!) has a terminal illness, that doesn't give others the right to kill him. Sickness is not a crime worthy of death. We are all going to die at some point, but that doesn't make it acceptable for others to murder us.

Yes, I would be personally willing to take care of and support your baby, along with the 2 million couples who are waiting to adopt in the United States.

If a man rapes a woman, I judge that his actions are wrong. If a father beats a child, again, I will be "judgmental" and say that his actions are immoral. If a woman brutally slaughters a child in her womb, I will judge that her actions are wrong as well. It is always wrong to victimize and kill innocent human beings, and there is nothing wrong with saying it.

No, I would not want someone to look through my medical records, but how is that relevant? We are talking about KILLING human beings, not having your appendix removed.

If you think the "choice" of killing your own son or daughter is acceptable, no, I do not trust you to do the right thing. We have laws against murder because without them, more people will murder. We should have laws against abortion for the same reason--to protect the innocent from those who would kill them.

You and your doctor are NOT the only ones involved in an abortion. Neither you or your doctor are the ones being dismembered alive:

Your a little crazy and not making much sense. No one can look in your medical records and yes we will pass judgment and formulate opinions. If you tell me you've had an abortion, I will form an opinion of you based on that and how I feel about that issue. If you don't tell me I won't know.

As a woman do I think you are capable about making decisions about your own body, I assume you are. There are some people who legally are too stupid, commonly called idiots (legal term) who perhaps can't make their own decisions. In the scenario you present, it is the only time that I think abortion is OK, to spare the life of the mother. I don't think it should be used as birth control but if it is, there needs to be some changes.

I also don't think a women should be able to get an abortion without the father's consent. I also think that a man who doesn't want to pay for that child should be able to ask and demand the women get an abortion so he's not stuck paying for it for 18 years if the law is going to remain like it is now.

Now somebody gonna say I'm crazy. So a women can abort a man's baby without his permission, but a man who doesn't want a kid has to pay for it because the women chooses to keep it? Sounds fair to me. Ah, but it takes two to make that baby is what you are going to say and the responsibility thing, etc. That folks goes both ways. If a woman can abort without a mans permission than a man ought to be able to force a woman to have an abortion if he doesn't want the kid. Hows that for a discussion point.

Civilized societies value ALL human life. Whether it is someone shooting a gun at an innocent person during a bank robbery, or a woman paying a doctor to kill an innocent baby, we as a society do have a right to decide what we think is right. I have never met a woman who was sorry that she had her baby (even if she gave it up for adoption) but I know many whom regret making the chioce to kill their baby. Many woman have night terrors and mental issues for their entire lives because some think the baby's soul is haunting them for not giving it a chance to live. Your mother had you didn't she? She gave you a chance even though she may have had other thoughts. Please give the kid a chance!

Feel better now that you got that off your chest? Did the right people read it or just a bunch of people like me who wondered what in the hell you were talking about. But, you are right. It is certainly none of my business. That decision is carried totally on your shoulders. You are the one who has to sleep with your decisions. But I still believe you need to address this message to someone else, not the Yahooers.

Why do you have the right to judge me if I murder your mother or father, Why do you have the right to judge me if I rape your sister. Why do you have the right to judge me if I take all your grandmothers life savings and leave her poor and destitute? If they put me in prison are you going to insure my children are cared for adequately and they receive the same as you do? What gives you the right to poke around in my parole files and records and make appeal to keep me behind bars? It's a matter of action and consequence! This is your uterus on promiscuity, this is your fetis the morning after. Do you get it yet???

I'm not sure whether someone on here has pissed you off but there are a lot of us that feel the same way you do.

It is a choice that only a woman has the right to make & if you are in that situation, I just want to let you know that you have support. I have never met anyone that has regretted that decision, including myself.

Take care....

Personally, I think that an abortion to save your life would be warranted. I don't believe that it should be a form of general birth control. They make condoms and the pill for that. But if your life is at stake, I fully support you in your decision.

It's not. People make it their business because think they're better than you.

It's like the saying goes, "if abortion is murder, masturbation is genocide." That's just the thing, by the dictionary definition, it's NOT murder, because you're not ending a life. But, usually, people who have nothing better to do than complain about what a woman does with her own body is too f*cking stupid to know the definition of a word like "life."

Hey, loopy. Yeah you. You are not the creator of life but just the carrier.Always remember that. You are not in control, just as your mother was not in control of your birth. It is out your hands as it was out of hers. And when you think you are the creator of life and in control of it, you are in for a rude awakening. Since when does science have more insight than God in the example you gave of having a certain % of dying during child birth? If you have more stake in the truth of science than of your own creator I feel sorry for you. You are destined for misery. Seek God and never second guess Him or He the creator will take you out of this world just as quick as He brought you in. Doubt it? Try your little scientific experiment and you will reap what you sow. How ignorant you are. You have no power to decide. Only God does . SO in this hypothetical situation you may find yourself in, be my guest and suck one of Gods children out of you. And yes oh yes you reap what you sowed. And if you thought your view was so right. you would never have posted this question. Get some help in every form before you turn against God and nature and try to act as if you have anything to do with the gift of life. You have no power in this situation and you better realize it now before you really have to.
