I have a contract with some friends but we are terminating the contract and I still want my phone. If I switch over to a GoPhone through Cingular can i keep my pink RZR? and they could change the Sims card or something?

dynamite....her phone main thing is that she wants to keep her phone, so cingular is her only choice. porting her number would be the solution if her number was what she wanted to keep. you can cancel your contract and probably have a cancellation fee. you can get out of that if you've got a good story (like if you've went through the warranty exchange department several times and keep having either sim card problems or reception problems). that's the best thing you should complain about to make it work but if you've done gone through warranty exchange at all, just stick with you're having bad reception and you know it's not the phone because your friends have the same problem and you know it's not the sim, also because they've had the same problem. when you talk to them like this, they will continue to suggest solutions, decline all of them and basically just tell them that your friends have gone through tech support, got updates to their sim, tried a new sim and all that, just tell them that you're sure that you're not going to have good service. BEYOND that, you can definitely activate a prepaid number. since you're not leaving cingular, you can NOT port your number, for sure. also, do not tell customer service that you want to cancel and go to prepaid, prepaid costs them money (compared to having a plan) so there's no way you'll get the cancellation fee waived, just call them and say what i said. to summarize everything besides the cancellation fee thing: you can not keep your number if you get cingular prepaid and you can only keep your phone if you get cingular prepaid (or another postpaid but that would be pointless)..so there's no way for you, not to have a contract and keep your phone and phone number....i just went back to look at dynamite's answer again to make sure i didn't miss anything with that that i wanted to address, only thing i should say again, is do not call cingular and talk about getting prepaid OR porting. the only reason you want to leave is bad reception...and like dynamite said, call someone else's customer service (tmobile is the best) and have them check the portability of your number. i can't possibly help you any more.

if u find out that u can keep the phone, what u should do is go and port ur number 1st w/out cingular knowing cause some companies they'll act like u can't port the #... Call their Customer Service and find out... Or call the company who u want to port to and ask them if ur phone is compatible w/their service...

sure you can keep the phone but you might have to pay an early termination fee if the contract is not finished yet.
