Absolutely, this sounds like teething. That "screaming crying" you described is the cry of a baby in pain. It is possible he might be hungry, but if it is an intense, sudden cry, this is the beginning of the Terrors of Teething. You will come to know that cry when he cries out in the middle of the day, too; one minute he'll be happily playing and smiling and the next thing you know, it's an ear-piercing scream.

I recommend keeping a bottle of infant tylenol, a tube of Orajel, and a q-tip nearby for middle-of-the-night pains. Check with your doctor, but he is most likely old enough to have infant tylenol (when he gets older, your doctor will probably tell you to give him Motrin -- my son is teething for his molars right now and the doctor actually said to give him Motrin EVERY night before bed!).

Teething comes and goes in spurts, so sooner or later he will have some relief and might even sleep through the night for you again (although I wouldn't expect too much at this age).

Good luck!

My daughter does the exact same thing(she is 5 months also) but for her it started at about 4 months she started waking up 2 or 3 times at night when she was sleeping 7 hours at night. My doctor said to feed her cereal before bedtime to help keep her stomach fuller longer but I think that she is teething and my doctor did say that she was probably teething too. My doc also said there is really nothing I can do but get up with her when she wakes up. So sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear but I hope it helps.

teething is a possibility. Or it could be that the formula or breast milk before bedtime just isn't sustaining him through the night like it once did. He's a growing little guy after all! Talk to your pediatrician about your options. You may be able to give him a bit of rice cereal before bed along with the last bottle or breast feeding for the night.

Sounds like teeth to me. Their sleeping pattern gets disrupted sometimes. You could try bonjella or something it make the gums a bit num but read the instructions carefully.

That totally sounds like teething. Feel his gums for top or bottom front teeth. Also look and see if it looks red or swollen...poor guy just isn't feeling good. Just give him the extra hugs as needed - it will pass.
