I was just thinking earlier today that there wasn't much going on in the news, as it seemed pretty boring. I was thinking that usually there is some catastrophe that will come up soon and keep the news interesting once again. Unfortunately, it has to be this poor girl. I think we can all relate to her in some odd way, as she came from absolutely nothing and didn't seem to cope with fame very well. She is a tragic figure...I wouldn't say she is like Princess Diana - but the symbolic meaning of those that go too young under awful circumstances are the Candle in the Wind analogy.

I completely agree with you about that. I was watching Grey's Anatomy and then during the commercials I would switch to different news channels. On just about every channel (CNN, ET, MSNBC, etc) they were talking about how tragic a life she had and how much she suffered as a child and all of the pain that she had gone through in her life. She did actually have a pretty crappy life but it doesn't change the fact that she wasn't exactly the best role model.
But hey, it's kind of taboo to talk badly about someone after they've died, I guess that's why people just tend to ignore all the bad stuff and focus on the good aspects of that person.

You're right she wasn't a saint. Out of curiosity I can bet you probably aren't either. Are any of us? I think we would be hard pressed to find that perfect person. Did she do some pretty off the wall and all be it, illigel things, yes, but do we really have the right to judge? The bottom line is that another person has died, only 5 months after her first born passed, and now has a newborn without a mother and questions of who the father is. So much drama for one person, and I really don't think she wanted most of it. She's in the limelight, so you're going to hear about it over and over again. Just thank the stars it wasn't you and wait till it passes.

I think she is being glamorized and immortalized, but not deified. If she were being deified, then you would never know she wasn't a saint, because in reality, most of us only know about Anna Nicole what the media, in a sense, tells us.

That always happens when someone dies young. Look at James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

She was a train wreck. I think Ozzy's song Crazy Train is probably more fitting than Candle in the Wind.

no she wasn't, but then again not many people are. i think she was a tortured soul who went through too much tragedy, between the death of her son and the soon to begin court battle with her new baby. no matter what, celebrity or not, she was still a human being and no matter how much money she had, she couldn't bring her son back. who are we to judge her or anyone? i did not know her personally, did you?

Yes, but I was expecting the "candle in the wind" reference.
She's a celebrity. What's new?
