is it the same if i use a usb cable, and a microsd adapter card reader?

do thye both do the same job . if i plug a usb cable from my phone to my computer, is that the same as taking the memory microsd from my phone , putting it in an adapter, putting that into a SD card reader?

Give me more details.... what type of devices are you working with...it's not always that simple.. although it may sound that way...
