Is it okay to skip taking the placebos (surgar pills) and start on next months pills? So going 5-6 weeks without a period and then going back to taking the pills on a regular cycle?

To be perfectly honest with you, I wouldn’t be taking the advice of people on here (no offense though guys) & risking something as serious as pregnancy (especially if you’re not ready to have a baby) because the fact is that I could practically guarantee that all of you are not taking the same pill.... yeah you cant do the skipping thing with all of them....

soooo... to put your mind at ease, go to your GP and find out for sure... get their advice to know you're doing the right thing....

It is perfectly safe to do this. while on the pill your body is none the wiser that you are going through any kind of cycle anyway. when you take the placebo pills you are effectively going off the pill for 7 days for a period to be effected.

I have skipped every second and sometimes do it two times in a row while on the pill (for 3-4 years). I came off in November and have just got back onto a regular cycle.

Ask your doctor if you need reassurance but several studies have been done on this matter and all say the same thing. I was initially TOLD by a doctor to skip every second period because i had low iron.

have fun without periods, it's sooooo handy especially when you know you have something coming up.

It's generally safe, however you should consult your doctor before making this decision. Most women have no problems (short or long term) with skipping periods though breakthrough bleeding is not rare as it's not normal. I had a bout of Toxic Shock Syndrome last September and have now been advised to skip a few in order to decrease my changes of relaps. so yes, it is ok, but talk to your doctor first. Some BC pills contain more estrigen and other chemicals than others. if you plan on skipping, make sure your are on a good brand of the pill in insure your own safety.

I wouldn't recommed it, you can screw up your regular cycle and it can come back to haunt you if you want to conceive later in life.
