Have you tried amazon.com? I just looked there and they did have several copies for sale. Do you mean the book or movie? Movie was made in the 70's not 50's.

The Andromeda Strain was written by Michael Crichton, the same guy who wrote Jurassic Park.It was made into a very good movie in the early 70's.
