I had it done twice, once at 39 weeks, once at 40, and I never went into labor. Had a cesarean at 10 days overdue.

My sister-in-law had her membranes stripped a day or two after her due date, I can't remember exactly how many days, but it was the day before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving day she started having contractions, but they weren't regular or anything. The next morning, she was determined to go to the day-after sales, and so we went to Wal-Mart, but were only there for 2 hours before we had to leave and go straight to the hospital. About 10 hours later, her daughter was born.

So I guess stripping the membranes worked for her, but it didn't work for me. I don't know the details like that of anyone else's pregnancy, so I can't say if it worked for any of them or now.

I went into labor within an hour of my doctor stripping my membranes. I contracted but my labor progressed very slowly and had to be given IV medication to speed up the process. 30 hours later, there way my son..lol. My doctor did tell me though that not all women go into labor after having their membranes stripped.

I had had preterm labour so was on bed rest for about 6 weeks. At 38 weeks I was ready to get my little guy out. My doctor stripped my membranes and 12 hours later he was here. So, yes this method can work.

For both my pregnancies stripping my membranes helped. For both my kids I went into labor within 24 hours. For some it doesn't work, but it doesn't hurt to try.

yes. during my first pregnancy, my regular weekly checkup at 40 weeks fell on my due date. i was so tired of being pregnant, but didn't want an induction. my obgyn stripped the membranes that day and my son was born the next day.

I had this done with my third child when he was getting to big and they wanted to induce me a little early. I was 38 weeks and my son weighed about 9 lbs (estimated) before birth. I went to the doc and had it done and wass told to walk. About 3 hrs later I was in the hospital and delivered my son and he was a healthy 10 lbs 14 oz.
